RIP, Mr. Iwata

Saturo Iwata died on July 11, 2015. I (coincidentally) started replaying Pokemon Emerald and Crystal on July 11. Completed most of Crystal in the next two days to celebrate his wonderful creation.

He got the battle system up and running in Pokemon games. He was the producer of Pokemon crystal.

Realizing the news of his death on July 14, I became misty-eyed (no Pokemon pun intended). This was the least coincidental thing that I’d expect. Crystal was his baby. It is because of him that the whole Kanto region could be added to Pokemon GSC. He will be missed. I never thought I would take up Pokemon again after 2005.

Regarding Video Games - I also saw VGHS this summer, which has its own take on Pokemon - Pokermon.

I’m misty-eyed now. I also played Pokemon Stadium which he developed. To honor his contribution, I played all the Pokemon console game soundtracks on a loop.
